We’re seriously lucky to be friends with the folks that put on the superb (and free) RUMBLE show series, as they’ve always been on the cusp of new talent. By constantly booking regional bands that are just about to break nationwide (as well as already established bands), the RUMBLE kids and their shows are a great place to hear music right before everyone else does. Here’s what organizers Future Sounds wrote about Chicago’s entrance into the series…

“THE RUMBLE continues to grow – this time opening it’s doors in it’s 9th city – CHICAGO – on April 12th at The Hideout! The lineup for this first ever event puts together some of our favorites like THE GREAT SOCIETY MIND DESTROYERS, PET LIONS and RAMBOS. As always, the event is FREE to the city of Chicago.

Video blogger GIANT SYSTEM we’ve been gushing about for months since first discovering them. Their videos are on par with YOURS TRULY and LA BLOGOTHEQUE, and Kyle at GS is a film guy that combines his passion for music with his skill set as a filmmaker. After a short conversation with HARMON DRIVE founder, Chris Parish, I realize we have a soul brother for life. HD is reminiscent of our friends at EVERYBODY TASTE, COVERT CURIOSITY and ROLLO & GRADY, and his ability to pick bands that are incredible is hard to beat. Besides, anyone that let’s FUTUREBIRDS sleep on his couch is a friend to us.

If there is an equivalent to BUZZBANDS.LA or BROOKLYN VEGAN for their town, it’s LOUD LOOP for Chicago. These guys cover the entire Chicago scene and their site is like a never-ending wormhole that can trap you for hours. We are looking forward to collaborating with them going forward.

We’re blessed with incredible indie record store partners in all our Rumble cities, from OG’s like ORIGAMI VINYL, SONIC BOOM RECORDS, AMOEBA MUSIC and WATERLOO RECORDS to name a few, and Chicago’s RECKLESS RECORDS is the ideal partner. With 3 locations and a staff that curate their way around the planet we’re psyched to have them on board.

Our good friends at VEOBA are the main reason why we’ve opened up Chicago, as this collection of industry experts have put together a set of tools and services for indie bands, plus a record label that truly reflects the modern ‘record label’ blueprint. You may remember them from the JELLYNYC Pool Parties, but now they hold it down on their home turf.

By the time the first party launches, we should have another couple key announcements for additional local champions of this party, stay tuned.
