There’s only 124 days left until Daley leaves office (give or take a few, my math skills are lacking and I only have 9 fingers), and Baby Teeth, a Chicago indie-pop standard since 2005, is releasing their lighthearted digital-only BOSS EP.

With Richard M. Daley’s tyrannical reign as the Windy City’s longest serving mayor ending in just a few short months, along with the inevitable crocodiles tears of sadness from those slick suits carrying big enough checkbooks to ride the pay-to-play carousel, Dick’s exit is also celebrated by Lujo Records’ act Baby Teeth. Their BOSS EP will be released next week for free on the band’s website and will feature content directly written with both Richard M. and Richard J. Daley in mind, as well as professional superior vs. subordinate relationships in general.

The short play standout is the slow-moving call out, “Good Old Boss.” The track references a few of little Dickie’s mayoral highlights (and by highlights I’m talking about lowlights (like 2008’s parking meter fiasco)) and features the same retro Rhodes and honey harmonies that’s made Baby Teeth unique and a Chicago staple. Listen to a rough edit of “Good Old Boss” below.

And of course, The Boss gets a cover, as the band opens up the five song tribute with a cover of Springsteen’s tale of 9-to-5 hustle, “Factory.” Download the EP next Tuesday and help the band commemorate the occasion with an EP release show next week at Chicago’s The Hideout.
