Two weeks ago Austin was in full fledged freak out mode.  Fans and bands alike flooded the Texas capital, tweekin’ for free booze and the chance to catch/become the next big buzz band.  So many good bands, so little time.  It’s taxing to pick and choose.  Even more so when you’re drunk as hell.

Our intrepid leader/founder DICK was everywhere during SXSW.  When he wasn’t giving various lectures or leading discussions, he was socializing with the common people.   Cognac and brier pipe forever in hand, DICK was a real sport about posing for photos.  Above we find him socializing with one half of Glass Candy and below DICK is photobombing that kid from The Death Set (who by the way put on a killer set). Check out additional DICK shots after the jump.

Weren’t able to make it to Austin this year?  The fine folks at ChinaShopMag have somehow edited three days of nonstop animalistic fever down to three short videos, all roughly a minute long.  Yeah, that means a lot got cut, but if you wanted the full experience, you should have dragged your ass down to Texas.  Check them out below.  Day 1,2, and 3! GO! Read More…

Skerrit Bwoy, you crazy dog.  Good thing you weren’t wearing a shirt.  You would’ve had a hell of a time getting that out.  Heem stains something fierce.

Check out the rest of the photo booth pics from our super duper exclusive afterparty #2 here.

Vanity will always win out when a camera is ready and willing to capture the moment.  Last Friday saw our first of two secret after parties take place.  If you were in Austin and had a sparkly bracelet, you were in.  Check out everyoneisfamous.com for the full set of pictures and click on the song for The Very Best’s remix of The XX’s cover of Florence & the Machine’s version of Candi Staton’s “You’ve Got The Love.”  Confusing? Yes.  But the pics run from dirty to clean and it’s nice to have a soundtrack that is just as layered.

Enjoy.

In-between spins on the tilt-a-puke and sucking down free Red Bull, our hairy photographer managed to do a damn good job documenting CARNIVILLE Austin.  He sent us a few from the event’s  first day to appease the crowds while he recovers from a week long binge of Tex-Mex and Dos Equis. You’ll find a pic of Japanther, Kid Sister giving us a pointer, the guitarist for The Walkmen, and two crazy kids enjoying a go on a mad rickety carnival ride.

Check back soon for his full load.

Even when driving a vintage maroon Continental (thanks DICK), the drive from Chicago to Austin can be mundane.  Hours tend to stretch on, all available limbs extend out and time begins to slow to a goddamn halt.  Even after a cliche, but rousing sing-a-long to Bohemian Rhapsody a la Wayne’s World, you need something to take your mind off the seemingly endless shitty countryside that is the midwest.   Thankfully, the voice of The Very Best’s Esau Mwamwaya (pronounced: whodahell-nose)  is like a straight shot of sunshine.  It’ll make you smile from Illinois to Texas and everywhere in between. Austin is upon us.  The VEOBA bunch is getting the hell out of dodge and heading south.  We expected to get a giant bus, but DICK had other plans.  So if you see a caravan of eight ’73 Lincoln Continentals along the interstate, give us a honk.  To hell with emissions, we each get our own.  Tentative plans are to meet up with DICK tomorrow, that’s if he doesn’t get hassled by the border patrol again.  Remember how that shit went down in ’83?  (He always said the elephant was a mistake, but it spoke 3 languages. WTF?)  His last correspondence was kind of rushed and his words were a little slurred. All he kept saying was that the brandy was tops and that the weather’s pristine.  That’s Mexico for you I guess.

Here is Rusko’s new video for “Woo Boost.”  Lots of day-glo and UK pride.  He’s got an album coming out titled OMG from our friends at MAD DECENT in early May.  See the dubstep bomber this week at CARNIVILLE Austin!

Three pairs of sunglasses at ONCE? Rusko, you crazy.  See you in a few days everyone.
