This Friday, October 29th is the record release party for Kingdom of the Dead, Bird Peterson’s new EP for HOTDOG Records. It’s a two song banger that’s going to fit right in with the Halloween weekend crowd. Listen to the title track and read our review we did right har. Peterson’s going to be in the house, as well as Chicago’s GANT-MAN and Marco Morales. The event’s free and kicks off around 11pm at Evil Olive. More info here.

But oh, how I’ve missed Evil Olive. The trashy establishment perched deep on the Polish Triangle’s Southend. Many words slurred and many nights blurred at that joint; it’ll forever be snuggled-up right tight near my heart. Plus just like a hussy’s legs, its doors are open quite late. Meaning at two in the morn, when bar lights get torched and liquor ceases to flow at WP’s finer spots up the street, kids can rumble and stumble down Milwaukee Avenue. Pass the discount furniture ghost-fronts and the thrift store vagrants, right on through the palindrome bar’s front doors. Then continue to drink and dance and get all sorts of stupid until 4 or 5am. It’s a blast. So naturally, this is going to be a blast.

And now you/I finally have a worthy excuse to head back there. Bingo.
