In prep of his upcoming collab with The Hood Internet, homeboy Kid Static just released a new music video. The visuals for “Chi City” sees the Chicago-born party rapper throwing down against The Hood guys, competing in both traditional and non-traddy games of physical endurance.

These are wisecracking times we’re living in. Bonus? Kid Static might’ve even introduced a cheap and effective way for rhythm-restricted individuals to feel a beat. Exercise ball bounce. How many of these can we fit in da club? Up and down, Kid Static, up and down. When we doing the infomercial? “Heeeeeey!”

Listen to “Chi City” and grab the forthcoming Hood Internet & Kid Static 7” at their proper record release show September 11th at Lincoln Hall. It’s a Just Desserts bill, where they’ll be joined by Wallpaper, Kid Color, and Toronto’s own disco n.k.o.t.b., DVAS.

DVAS’ debut, Society, hit stores last month. Beat and sparkle laden, it’s filled with songs that wouldn’t be amiss on the soundtrack of any late ‘80s high-school romcoms. The ones where massive parties get thrown at some nerd’s house. The ones where things are wild and crazy and the nerd-turned-hero’s Mom phones home mid-party, informing her son of the flight mix-up and the untimely return back (a day earlier than expected, shit!). And despite imminent grounding, instead of cleaning up, the nerd treks upstairs to bang the head-cheerleader on his twin-size bed. Perfect world.

Yeah, that’s what Society reminds me of. See ya next month!
