7. Do I get a price break as my order gets larger? (Back)
We try to make it very clear on our pricing to show you the total cost and per unit cost. As you will see, the more you order, the price per unit cost goes down. Nice! It came to us in a dream...a dream about awesomeness and sharp corners, and unicorns, and awesomeness.

30 Days. The reason is prices and costs change so we don’t want you to have an outdated price when you hand in your project.
12. Why should I use VEOBA…you're new right? (Back)
Sure, VEOBA launched in May 2010, but the people that make up the company were not born yesterday. All of us have experience in the music industry, and many of us came from other jobs doing similar things. The person who set up our CD & Vinyl manufacturing has been doing it for almost ten years and has worked with some very successful artists. We may be a young company, but we are far from inexperienced.
DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION (Back) (Top)
1. Can’t we digitally release our own product?
2. Are we signing a record deal with VEOBA?
3. Am I bound to VEOBA…….forever?
5. How much will the artist, label, management earn?
6. Can we find better deal elsewhere?
7. Where will our music be available for purchase?
9. Why should we choose VEOBA over any one of the larger, more established companies?
10. Do you help artists with promotion?
11. What type of music do you distribute?
12. Can we release albums and singles?
1. Can’t we digitally release our own product? (Back)
Yes however through our relationships, we’re bringing big label and big music distribution to smaller, independent artists and record labels with access to over 100 digital retailers worldwide.
2. Are we signing a record deal with VEOBA? (Back)
Nope. It’s more of a non-exclusive agreement for VEOBA to handle your worldwide digital distribution and you gaining the benefits of our reach.
3. Am I bound to VEOBA…….forever? (Back)
Only if you choose to be. Again, the agreement with VEOBA is non-exclusive. This means the agreement covers the tracks distributed through VEOBA and not you as an artist. If you get offered a record deal, you are free to sign however we recommend you to “stay vigilant, stay independent.”
You retain 100% of copyright and only assign the digital distribution rights to us as long as you decide to go through VEOBA.
4. What's in it for VEOBA? (Back)
In our standard agreement, VEOBA takes 20% of the earnings after the retailer has taken their percentage. Because we are able to secure a wide distribution deal and push our brand, push our artists, and push our catalog, we’re worth more to an artist than the majority of digital distributors. Also, if your music doesn't sell, neither of us make anything, and that's how the industry should be.
5. How much will the artist, label, management earn? (Back)
As an artist you receive 75% of the net profit. As a label, you receive 80% of the earnings after the retailer has taken their percentage. Remember though, just having your music posted online won’t necessarily sell itself either. Promote yourself as an artist as much as possible – run online or guerilla marketing campaigns, have creative t-shirts made, or pass out download cards corresponding with your digital release. Always keep your listeners in the loop.
6. Can we find better deal elsewhere? (Back)
If you do, please show us. We spend a lot of time building these partnerships to benefit and save time for independent artists and labels. And don’t forget the adage, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
7. Where will our music be available for purchase? (Back)
Here is the link to the top tier retailers we distribute to.
Here is the link to the DJ services we distribute to.
8. Can we trust VEOBA? (Back)
Absolutely! The whole foundation of our company was started by musicians for musicians. We know exactly what you’re going through as an independent artist: the frustrations, the overwhelming amount of choices and the challenge of juggling all that while trying to focus on music. It’s your decision to go through VEOBA but in the end know that we’re looking out for you, always putting the artist ahead of ourselves and frankly, we won’t do well unless the artist does well.
9. Why should we choose VEOBA over any one of the larger, more established companies? (Back)
As much as there is to gain by going through a larger and more established company, VEOBA offers a much more personal experience. We care to know you as an artist: how you started, if you want to hang out for lunch and come by our office, and where/when your next show is so we can support you. We’re new veterans and very focused on establishing a place for independents to find a home.
10. Do you help artists with promotion? (Back)
YES! We not only provide online advertising, guerilla marketing, and promotional items (i.e. stickers, posters, etc.) but we also have an extensive online music magazine with artist features, the latest music news, promotional events nationwide, etc. You aren’t just buying services, VEOBA’s adopting you into our lifestyle and brand.
11. What type of music do you distribute? (Back)
Whatever you want people to hear. We will be happy to listen to anything and provide honest feedback.
12. Can we release albums and singles? (Back)
Yup, and EPs.
13. Will we need artwork? (Back)
Yes you do. Any artwork is largely the responsibility of the artist however we will lend a helping hand if you need us or get started here. Give us a quick call if you’ve hit a creative block, as we’re always sitting close to a phone.
14. How do artists get paid? (Back)
Working with VEOBA is no different than working with a label or aggregator. We account to artists, providing a royalty statement, on a quarterly basis like most of the industry. Online stores report sales to distributors at different intervals. Therefore, we are always working one month in arrears, sometimes more. If someone claims to be doing “real time” updates, we would love to know how.
We will always share your reports with you upon request.

16. Do I need a different template for different sized items?
17. Can’t I just use the measurements from a t-shirt I own or a template from another site?
18. Can I use an image from my website on my shirts?
1. Do you guys match prices? (Back)
VEOBA believes in offering great prices, but more importantly, high quality products, services, and experience. We know there's lots of great deals there and that you've got lots of choices. If you find something cheaper somewhere else, please feel free to forward your written (typed, emailed) quote to us at merch@veoba.com and we'll do our best to match it.
2. What is the turnaround time on a merchandise order? (Back)
VEOBA’s turnaround time for merchandise orders will always vary based on our current workload ... but the average turnaround time is 7-10 business days.
3. Can I choose different sizes and colors in the same order? (Back)
You sure can! Within the same print run you can choose any shirt size or color that you'd like, but please keep sizes and colors in dozens (so 12 large, 12 smalls, etc). There are no extra charges for mixing it up.
4. Do your prices include shipping? (Back)
No. The prices listed on our website are that only of the items specified and do not include any applicable setup fees or shipping charges.
5. Why are there set up fees? (Back)
To screen print we need to make one screen per color you are using. VEOBA needs to cover our costs, so we charge you for these screens on the INITIAL ORDER ONLY. Represses do not incur these screen costs since the screens are already made. We charge $30 per screen … so $30 per color.
6. Will a light color ink print well on a dark t-shirt? (Back)
If you want a light color ink (example: light blue) on a dark t-shirt (example: black) we will need to lay down a WHITE BASE coat under that light blue to make sure it shows well. This WHITE BASE does count as a color, so it does have a screen charge on the initial order.
7. Do I have to pay full price if I print the same shirts later? (Back)
No. All re-orders (with no changes to design) do not have those set up fees … so you will be paying the per unit (per shirt, or Hoodie, etc.) cost.
8. What is your minimum merchandise order? (Back)
Our minimum order is 36 pieces for t-shirts and 48 for everything else. If you need something smaller than that amount, contact us and we will try and work with you to figure something out.
9. How can I get my t-shirts cheaper? (Back)
If you want to bring your costs down, here are your options:
- Choose inexpensive shirt options. If you want to bring pricing down, we can price cheaper shirts for you.
- Print more shirts. The more you print the price per shirt usually goes down but your over-all cost will not.
- Buy some Sharpies and plain t-shirts and have a fun evening of drawing on shirts.
Note: Please keep in mind that VEOBA does not make “cheap” merchandise. We have some different pricing options, but we only make high quality merchandise. We might not be the cheapest option out there – but you get what you pay for.
10. Will VEOBA print dirty words on my shirts? (Back)
Sure. Given that our founder goes by Dick Veoba, let’s just say we are flexible on crude words and innuendo. However, we reserve the right to refuse service, but it’d have to get pretty ugly before we'd exercise that right.
11. Is there a difference between screen printed shirts and vinyl heat transfer t-shirts? (Back)
Yes. Silk screened shirts are longer lasting in comparison to heat transfers. Vinyl transfer shirts disintegrate and wear away after a few months whereas screen printed shirts consist of ink printed directly into the fabric. They will fade and crack a little but keep up well for a few years depending on how carefully you take care of it.
12. How do I know that you're going to print the images where I want them printed? (Back)
We will email you a PDF proof with approximate size and placement before submitting the final order to our printers.
13. How do I decide what size to print the design on my shirt? (Back)
You should measure other shirts with similar designs or cut out a piece of paper to the size you think you want printed and hold it up to a shirt.
14. What shirt colors are available? (Back)
White, Black, Heather Gray, Navy Blue, Royal Blue, Light Blue, Kelly Green, Yellow, Light Pink, Purple, Red, Orange, Brown, Natural.
15. What type of art files does VEOBA accept? (Back)
Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator are perfect for t-shirt layouts. Leave your Illustrator files with no clipping masks and all text converted to outlines on a solid background … that would make us burst with flavors (very happy).
If you're submitting pixel based artwork in Photoshop, we require that your image be your desired print size at 300 dpi.
Delete any unused layers and keep separate print colors on separate layers. Flattened images are ok too. If you're sending over vector based artwork, be sure to set the image size to the size you'd like the print to be.
16. Do I need a different template for different sized items? (Back)
No. Although we do allow you to mix and match sizes with your order, this is contingent on your design staying the same for each sized item. Bear in mind that your design will appear larger on smaller shirts … so keep this in mind when designing.
17. Can’t I just use the measurements from a t-shirt I own or a template from another site? (Back)
No. While all t-shirts seem the same, each company has a slightly different printing process. Using a VEOBA template will ensure that your finished product comes out the way you want … which make us very happy.
18. Can I use an image from my website on my shirts? (Back)
No. Web images are normally saved at 72 pixels per inch and VEOBA needs your art file at 300 pixels per inch.

20. What if there is something I want to order that is not listed on the VEOBA website?
1. Do you guys match prices? (Back)
VEOBA believes in offering great prices, but more importantly, high quality products, services, and experience. We know there's lots of great deals there and that you've got lots of choices. If you find something cheaper somewhere else, please feel free to forward your written (typed, emailed) quote to us at cdvinyl@veoba.com and we'll do our best to match it.
2. What is the turnaround time on a CD order? (Back)
Once we receive your order (with all of the specs, forms, payment) … we will email you in 2-4 business days with some PDF proofs for approval. Once you approve all proofs for your project via email, your turnaround time is approximately 10-12 business days. You will need to add in time for shipping (1-5 business days, depending on where you are located). VEOBA can expedite your shipping and we can set up multiple drop-ships for your added convenience, for an additional charge.
To save yourself extra time … make sure you double check that you have all paperwork filled out, the payment submitted, and that your art files are to spec (and triple check for typos).
3. What is the turnaround time on a CD reorder? (Back)
Turnaround time on a CD Reorder is approximately 8-12 business days, plus time for shipping. That’s it. Really.
4. What can I do to hex my project? (Back)
Simple answer: Set a release date, or release show before your finished order is in your hands. Please set release date and release shows after you have the finished product in hand. Plus, you will want to send out product to local press (and maybe radio) to help promote your release anyway. VEOBA is responsible for getting you a fantastic finished product … but we are not responsible for getting your product to your release show.
5. What do you mean by 10% over/under? (Back)
10% over/under is an industry standard. Although a majority of our orders ship exact quantities, some ship a little over, or a little under. After your CDs are replicated, each CD undergoes a quality control test to make sure they meet critical quality certifications. However, some discs don't pass this test with these discs must be destroyed. To make sure you end up with at least the number of CDs you ordered, the CD plant will actually manufacture more discs than ordered. So… if you order 1,000 CDs you can end up with a final quantity between 900 – 1,100. An order between these numbers is considered complete.
NOTE: You are responsible to pay for UP TO 10% overs. If VEOBA ships short you will be credited for the copies you did not receive.
6. How do I get a UPC Barcode? (Back)
VEOBA offers barcodes for only $15 for clients' projects that use our Printing, CD, DVD, Vinyl, or Digital Distribution services.
Here is the IMPORTANT part: If you need a barcode for your project, you must request it BEFORE you send us your art files or film. We will email it to you as an EPS file that you can drop into your artwork files. We can drop a UPC barcode into your art files for you, but this service will cost an additional $75 in graphics charges.
If you do not want to use the VEOBA services (which would be very upsetting), we can sell you a bar code for $50.
7. What is SoundScan? (Back)
Nielsen SoundScan is an information system that tracks sales of music and music video products throughout the United States and Canada. Sales data from point-of-sale cash registers is collected weekly from over 14,000 retail, mass merchant and non-traditional (on-line stores, venues, etc.) outlets. Weekly data is compiled and made available every Wednesday. Nielsen SoundScan is the sales source for the Billboard music charts.
You can register your barcode for FREE; simply download the SoundScan application form and submit it to SoundScan (not VEOBA) here: http://en-us.nielsen.com/etc/content/nielsen_dotcom/en_us/home/industries/media/entertainment.mbt.1079.RelatedLinks.93274.MediaPath.pdf
8. What is the difference between panels & pages, booklets & folders? (Back)
A "panel" is defined as one side of a printable square. A “page” is the same as a “panel” – pages refer to stapled booklets, and panels refer to folded folder. For example, a 4 Panel Folder is made up of: a cover, a left inside, right inside, and a back cover (one fold). So on a 4 Panel Folder you would have 4 separate square panels on which to print.
Folder = a printed insert with FOLDS.
Booklet = a printed insert with STAPLES. All booklets are divisible by 4 (8 pages, 12 pages, 16 pages…).
9. What does 4/1, 4/4, 4/0, and 1/1 mean? (Back)
CMYK, also known as full-color process, or four-color process, is a color system used in printing, CMYK refers to the 4 inks used in most color printing: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key black (or just blacK). Different percentages of these four colors make up full color images.
4/0 = CMYK (outside) / No Printing (inside)
4/1 = CMYK (outside) / Black & White (inside)
4/4 = CMYK (all sides)
1/1 = Black & White (all sides)
10. What is a PMS Color? (Back)
The Pantone Matching System (PMS) is a color system that assigns a numbering system to specific colors, and shade of those colors.
- You need to set up the CD or DVD Face Files in Solid Coated PMS Colors.
- We DO accept CMYK for the disc face, but these will print on the offset press which might incur an extra charge. Please contact VEOBA before placing your order.
- You may add PMS Color(s) to your print (folders, LP jackets, digipaks, etc.) which will incur an extra charge. Please contact VEOBA before placing your order.
11. What art programs should I use to do my artwork? (Back)
Layout: For layout please use InDesign and Illustrator.
Design/Photos: For images and photo manipulation use Photoshop. Photoshop is NOT a layout program. DO NOT CREATE TEXT IN PHOTOSHOP! Text created in Photoshop tends to print jagged and not clean.
ALL images need to be in no less than 300 DPI and converted to CMYK or Grayscale.
Placing files is much better than embedding them.
PLEASE PLACE THE BARCODE IMAGE, if you are using one, in your artwork… DO NOT EMBED IT.
12. How much does VEOBA charge to make changes to my art files? (Back)
If you are in a bind, or see a typo on a proof we can make the change for you, but our graphics department fee is $75 per hour, with a minimum of ½ hour billable time. Ouch! Yep, so make sure you double check your files before sending them. Also, extra rounds of PDF proofs incur extra charges.
13. What is a Topspine UPC? (Back)
A Topspine UPC is a sticker that is applied over a closed Jewel Case (they do not fit so well on Digipaks, but we can still do them for an extra fee). Most major label releases use them, so if you just go to a local record store you will be able to see them ... if you have a local record store. The Topspine Sticker has the following information on it:
Band/Artist Name
Release Title
Catalog Number
Bar Code Number & Image
Topspine stickers are not required (although some distributors require them), but they are a good option for those who do not want to place the bar code into their artwork but still need a bar code. There are no graphics set up needed for these, just make sure your Quote and Order form reflect that you want Topspines on your CD, and fill out the Topspine Form on our site.
14. Does VEOBA listen to my submitted audio master? (Back)
No. We have no idea what it is supposed to sound like, so we do not listen to it. Plus you do not want to over play an audio master because it might get scratches and scuffs making the transfer to the glass master fail.
15. Should I listen to my audio master before I submit my order? (Back)
Simple answer: Yes!
When VEOBA receives your order, we will check your CD-R master to make sure that it is error free, so we can make a Stamper (aka Glass Master) from it. We do NOT listen to the content of the disc. It is your responsibility to carefully listen to it at least once to make sure tracks are in the right order, it sounds good, and that there are no digital pops or anything that should not be on it. We replicate a byte for byte disc from what you provide us.
If you accidentally send us a mix CD you made your friend instead of your audio master, we cannot guarantee we will catch it before your CDs are pressed.
If you are ordering Vinyl (7” or 12”) you WILL get Test Pressings before we press up your records.
NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER send us your only copy of your master. PERIOD.
Do NOT send us the CD copy of your master that has been in your car or stereo that you have played over and over.
16. Will my finished CDs sound like the audio master I am submitting? (Back)
Answer: Yes! We do not tweak levels. We do not add or subtract time. VEOBA just transfers your music or data bit for bit and gives you high quality CDs in return. Same is true for our Short-Runs, just orders under 500 will be on burned CD-Rs.
17. Do you replicate or duplicate your CDs & DVDs? (Back)
Answer: Both. Orders UNDER 500 CDs & DVDs are considered Short-Runs and these will be done in our Duplication process (burned CDs & DVDs). The Short-Runs still have printing on the Disc Face and look extremely professional. Orders of 500 & OVER are made in a manufacturing plant using the Replication process (making all CDs & DVDs from a Glass Master Stamper).
18. What do I need to do if I have covers or samples on my audio master? (Back)
If you have covers (your version of other people’s songs) or samples (direct usage of other people’s recordings) you need to submit to VEOBA the correct paperwork (mechanical license) letting us know you are paying the correct parties their dues (royalties). There are 2 places where you can get this done:
1. Limelight: www.songclearance.com
2. Harry Fox Agency: http://www.harryfox.com/index.jsp
VEOBA will not be held responsible for a client not paying the proper royalties and licensing fees, that is why we require IPR Forms for each order, and Mechanical Licenses if necessary.
19. Will I get my audio master and art files back with my finished order? (Back)
No. But … you can request them back once your balance is paid and we will gladly have it shipped back to you.
Audio Master: We will hold all audio masters for one year from the order date. After that time we are not responsible for your audio master.
Art Files: We will not return or store your art files. PLEASE keep a copy of your art files for your records.
20. What if there is something I want that is not listed on the VEOBA website? (Back)

13. Does VEOBA listen to my submitted audio master? (Back)
No. We have no idea what it is supposed to sound like, so we do not listen to it. Plus you do not want to over play an audio master because it might get scratches and scuffs making the transfer to the glass master fail.
NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER send us your only copy of your master. PERIOD.
Do NOT send us the CD copy of your master that has been in your car or stereo that you have played over and over.
16. What is a Duplicated CD/DVD? (Back)
Orders UNDER 500 CDs & DVDs are considered Short-Runs and these will be done in our Duplication process (burned CDs & DVDs). The Short-Runs still have printing on the Disc Face and look extremely professional.
17. 2What do I need to do if I have covers or samples on my audio master? (Back)
If you have covers (your version of other people’s songs) or samples (direct usage of other people’s recordings) you need to submit to VEOBA the correct paperwork (mechanical license) letting us know you are paying the correct parties their dues (royalties).
19. What if there is something I want that is not listed on the VEOBA website? (Back)
Call or email VEOBA. We can see if we can get you what you are looking for, or at least point you in the right direction on where to find it.
2. What is the turnaround time on a LP or 7” order?
3. What can I do to hex my project?
4. What do you mean by 10% over/under?
5. How do I get a UPC Barcode?

14. Will I get my audio master and art files back with my finished order?
2. What is the turnaround time on a LP or 7” order? (Back)
Please contact VEOBA for the current turnaround time on vinyl orders. Since there are many more steps (and parts) to making vinyl, this process takes more time. Not only will you have PDF proofs to approve, but you will also have test pressings to approve.
To save yourself extra time … make sure you double check that you have all paperwork filled out, the payment submitted, and that your art files are to spec (and triple check for typos).
6. What is SoundScan? (Back)

CUSTOM BANNER ADS (Back) (Top)
1. Is banner advertising necessary?
2. How can I spend my advertising budget with the best results?
3. How many clicks will I get?
5. Can I have an animated banner ad?
6. Who can help me create an ad?
7. What happens when someone clicks my ad?
1. Is banner advertising necessary? (Back)
Yes and no. You want to build a name and following for your band, right? We realize how competitive it is between the thousands of other bands trying to do something similar. Online/banner advertising lets fans know you exist. Your band’s designs displayed on popular musician-based websites are there to grab listeners’ short attention spans and link them to your music and merch. From there, it leads to them following you on twitter, going to see your concerts, downloading your songs and buying your merchandise. We are getting ahead of ourselves here, but this is what we envision as a result of a successful online ad.
2. How can I spend my advertising budget with the best results? (Back)
As moms always say, spend your money wisely and don’t blow it all on coke and candy. With online advertising, make sure you have the ability to track results. We will provide those numbers to you to check the response and measure what is working. We will do all the required research and display your band’s ads on the sites your fan base visit most but you need to be the one to follow up with those fans who express interest in your music.
3. How many clicks will I get? (Back)
Click rates are affected by where the ad is placed (meaning if it’s relevant to that audience). It also depends on what you place within the advertisement. Fans are less likely to click on an image-only ad. Try drawing them in with something along the lines of “click here” to receive samples of your music, links to creative merch, or sign-up for your newsletter. Always try to offer fans something of value. Always follow up with responses as quickly as you can get to them. We are happy to supply you with these statistics, either weekly, or at the end of your run.
4. What is a banner ad? (Back)
Your banner advertisements should link directly back to your website or landing page. They are the most common type of web advertising. Go to our arts specifications page for a variety of banner size options.
5. Can I have an animated banner ad? (Back)
Yes. Your banner ad can be static, flash or an animated gif. Animated gifs can be up to three frames and either loop or freeze on the last frame.
6. Who can help me create an ad? (Back)
We can if you need us to. The fee is $75 per hour, with a minimum of ½ hour billable time. Contact us at sales@veoba.com if you'd like our help. We'll need you to send us any logos, text, and images you want to include in the ad.
7. What happens when someone clicks on my ad? (Back)
You can link the ad directly to any live link/video (i.e., your music or merchandise). Decide the route you think would be best for your band. If you already have a decent following and prefer to focus more energy on selling merch, include highlights/specials in the ad and link it to merch. Decide which option is best for your band’s specific needs.
