1. Can’t we digitally release our own product? (Back to Top)
Yes however through our relationships, we’re bringing big label and big music distribution to smaller, independent artists and record labels with access to over 100 digital retailers worldwide.
2. Are we signing a record deal with VEOBA? (Back to Top)
Nope. It’s more of a non-exclusive agreement for VEOBA to handle your worldwide digital distribution and you gaining the benefits of our reach.
3. Am I bound to VEOBA…….forever? (Back to Top)
Only if you choose to be. Again, the agreement with VEOBA is non-exclusive. This means the agreement covers the tracks distributed through VEOBA and not you as an artist. If you get offered a record deal, you are free to sign however we recommend you to “stay vigilant, stay independent.”
You retain 100% of copyright and only assign the digital distribution rights to us as long as you decide to go through VEOBA.
4. What's in it for VEOBA? (Back to Top)
In our standard agreement, VEOBA takes 20% of the earnings after the retailer has taken their percentage. Because we are able to secure a wide distribution deal and push our brand, push our artists, and push our catalog, we’re worth more to an artist than the majority of digital distributors. Also, if your music doesn't sell, neither of us make anything, and that's how the industry should be.
5. How much will the artist, label, management earn? (Back to Top)
As an artist or label, you receive 80% of the earnings after the retailer has taken their percentage. Remember though, just having your music posted online won’t necessarily sell itself either. Promote yourself as an artist as much as possible – run online or guerilla marketing campaigns, have creative t-shirts made, or pass out download cards corresponding with your digital release. Always keep your listeners in the loop.
6. Can we find better deal elsewhere? (Back to Top)
If you do, please show us. We spend a lot of time building these partnerships to benefit and save time for independent artists and labels. And don’t forget the adage, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
7. Where will our music be available for purchase? (Back to Top)
Here is the link to the top tier retailers we distribute to.
Here is the link to the DJ services we distribute to.
8. Can we trust VEOBA? (Back to Top)
Absolutely! The whole foundation of our company was started by musicians for musicians. We know exactly what you’re going through as an independent artist: the frustrations, the overwhelming amount of choices and the challenge of juggling all that while trying to focus on music. It’s your decision to go through VEOBA but in the end know that we’re looking out for you, always putting the artist ahead of ourselves and frankly, we won’t do well unless the artist does well.
9. Why should we choose VEOBA over any one of the larger, more established companies? (Back to Top)
As much as there is to gain by going through a larger and more established company, VEOBA offers a much more personal experience. We care to know you as an artist: how you started, if you want to hang out for lunch and come by our office, and where/when your next show is so we can support you. We’re new veterans and very focused on establishing a place for independents to find a home.
10. Do you help artists with promotion? (Back to Top)
YES! We not only provide online advertising, guerilla marketing, and promotional items (i.e. stickers, posters, etc.) but we also have an extensive online music magazine with artist features, the latest music news, promotional events nationwide, etc. You aren’t just buying services, VEOBA’s adopting you into our lifestyle and brand.
11. What type of music do you distribute? (Back to Top)
Whatever you want people to hear. We will be happy to listen to anything and provide honest feedback.
12. Can we release albums and singles? (Back to Top)
Yup, and EPs.
13. Will we need artwork? (Back to Top)
Yes you do. Any artwork is largely the responsibility of the artist however we will lend a helping hand if you need us or get started here. Give us a quick call if you’ve hit a creative block, as we’re always sitting close to a phone.
14. How do artists get paid? (Back to Top)
Working with VEOBA is no different than working with a label or aggregator. We account to artists, providing a royalty statement, on a quarterly basis like most of the industry. Online stores report sales to distributors at different intervals. Therefore, we are always working one month in arrears, sometimes more. If someone claims to be doing “real time” updates, we would love to know how.
We will always share your reports with you upon request.
15. Do you offer any other services? (Back to Top)
We will do it all. We’re a resource for the music community: CD & vinyl, custom merchandise, digital distribution, download cards, guerilla marketing, online advertising, and more. Mix and match whatever it is you need and we’ll work with you to figure that out.
